I'm sooo beautiful....

So all was quite in the Barton house....oh wait...it's quite....yikes...someone's in trouble then!!
Who could it be?? Baby is napping so can't be her. Ethan watching cartoons (don't judge) so it can't be him. Oh look bathroom light is on with the door closed and I hear singing....hmmmm I think I found my culprit! I opened the door quickly to be greeted by this.......
It took me a second to process whether I wanted to spit nails or laugh! I closed the door and snatched my camera. I opened the door again and started documenting. The above picture was her look of, "is mom really taking pictures of me instead of yelling at me." She is stunned and doesn't know what to do. This is a bit of our conversation.

Me: (stern but calmly) Cambree, what are you doing?
Cambree: (shyly) I'm puttin on make-up
Me: Why?
Cambree: (now with a slight smile) Cuz I am sooooo BU-tiful...mom! Do you see!

Now how can a mom argue with that. :D
I then asked her how she made herself look sooo beautiful. I told her to show me everything she did. She went through her procedure of putting on makeup. And really for a 3 year old she did a pretty good job at it. I mean who hasn't gotten a little mascara in their eyebrows and on their cheeks. Anyways here was here process.

A girl can't leave the house without a little eyeshadow. Of course she had to put a little of each color on.

Here she is showing me how to put on "Ba-scare-A" that's what she calls it. It's hilarious. You try not laughing when she says it.
She is showing me how good she did "sparkles" on her eyelids.
Here is the final product! Isn't she sooooo BEAUTIFUL! :D and I love that she is still not sure if she is in trouble or not. This is a look of ..." really..did I just get away with that!"
Nope...sorry Cambree...you are in trouble.....I am a mother after all. But it wasn't too bad. I made her clean it all up since I had foundation and eyeshadow and mascara all over the counter. And we had a talk about how only mommy's can put makeup on by ourselves and little girls have to ask mommy to help them. I did let her sport her good looks for a couple hours till dad got home so that he got to see just how beautiful his daughter was! :D

You're such a good mom! It's easy to have an initial reaction that is angry and scolding, but I think you had a great balance of letting her know it was wrong, but also letting her know you are forgiving of her mistakes and understand her desire to be "girly"!

By the way, I never noticed until now how much like Blake she looks! Has anyone ever mentioned that before???

That is sooo funny- the boys were laughing at her new look. She is a beautiful little girl. Konnor has put on my mascura before. It must be a 3yr old thing! :)

Well I have to agree she does look beautiful. As a mother all you can do sometimes is laugh.
Way to go on the 5K. I loved the pic when you are giving your kids a hug after. That is the best thing for me is to have my kids there when I finish a race. I like them seeing me do something that I enjoy.
