5K & worn out!

So I am happy to report that I completed a 5K and didn't die! Wooohoooo!
I wanna say it was the best thing I've ever done but that would be a wee bit of a fib. It was hard and a bit miserable training and running so much since I am NOT a runner but it did give me a sense of accomplishment. My friend Aarin helped me train and we worked hard leading up to the race. It was great motivation running with her not because she kicked my butt every time (yes...yes...everytime!) but because I am way to stubborn and prideful to wuss out when running with someone else. Even though it was really hard for me, it was really great to accomplish something like this.

So the night before we had a big CARB-fest with the Aarin and her family to get ready for the race which was fun. Aarin and Kameron's kids just happen to be my kids bestest friends! :)
We collaborated together and had chicken fettuccine alfredo with bread sticks and salad. It was yummy! The kids loved having a picnic with their friends Karson & Konner.
The next morning we got up bright and early with butterfly nerves. Yikes. Todd was working a grave shift and didn't get off work till the start of the race so I had to get all three kids up and ready and out the door. We drove over and picked up my sister Brandi. She was going to help watch kids and take pictures just in case Todd wasn't there. He ended up making it there right before the race started.
I ran the race and actually beat my personal goal which was a surprise to me. I think this was possible because I kept thinking in my head...."keep running Christy.....pick it up....don't embarrass yourself in front of all these people....just keep running...." :)
My time was 30.59 min.!! woohoooooooo!!! And other than my nerd-O running skills, I made it with out eating pavement or embarrassing myself somehow.

Getting our numbers and shoe tags on so our times can be recorded.
Here we all are about to race!
Tiffany(Aarin's sister-in-law), Florance (my neighbor & primary pal), me, Tiffany (Aarin's sister), and Aarin (my friend & neighbor) Here's me ready to go. (I am also silently praying that I don't pass out in the road along the way)
And we're OFF! Going underneath the green sign was the starting line. :)
Here are some of all our kids getting ready with their signs and gearing up to cheer on their moms!!
Coming into the FINISH line!! (I look like a dork when I run.)
My hubby and kids coming to give me congratulatory hugs!!
Here is all of us after the race. Ya can't tell but we are really hot & yucky sweaty & about to DIE.....ok so maybe just me. ;) Here's Ethan & Cambree with me holding up the signs they made with a little help from Aunt Brandi of course. Aarin was who I trained with from the get go and is who talked me into this madness!!

Too bad you want to move. You won't be around to push me to be as fabulously amazing as you are.

I really enjoyed myself so much I did another 5k 2wks later. I wish you would still run with me I had a great time. Its fun accomplishing things you don't think you can physically and mentally do and then you do it and think hey, that wasn't so bad! Nice job on your time!

Good work Christy! Maybe next time I'll be able to do it with you! I'm going to need something to whip me into shape after this baby comes!
