We decided that it would be really cool to do a dragon dance and of course I volunteered to get a little bit crafty and make the dragon head. I made it out of chicken wire and paper mache. Also i cut a hole in the bottom so that our cub master Scott could fit his noggin in there to lead our scouts in the dragon dance! A big thanks to Rebecca who is an amazing artist in our primary who came up with the design and helped me paint it!
Then each den created a segment of the dragon and we put them together. We put hula hoops underneath so that it would give the essence of a body and also give something the boys could hang onto and move up and down!

We had Chinese music playing and we popped bubble wrap into a micraphone to give the effect of fireworks! It really turned out great. We also had a fabulous ward member who is Chinese and helped us make yummy authentic Chinese food. It was a night to remember and the boys and the leaders had a blast.

THat is so awesome! I was the primary counselor over cub scouts a couple years ago and I know our cubs and leaders would have LOVED this--I can't believe you made that head yourself. I wouldn't have had a clue where to start!
You're like "Martha Stewart meets Jackie Chan"!
That's awesome! Good work! It looks like the boys had tons of fun with it!
Wow! I'm very impressed! The dragon looks awesome!
